Learning the techniques of editing educational video is very useful. The free softwares, photo story and movie making are easy to use. Although they are not as powerful as the other paid softwares, such as premiere, we can still practice how to organize the materials into a meaningful subject content.

The module provides an overview of digital storytelling. In different sessions I have learnt something related to digital story telling, from theories, practical skills, common tools, video editing tips, what to avoid, etc. It is quite interesting. I have a chance to collaborate with my group mates to produce some video assignments as well. In the class, I've got chances to look into other peoples' works. In summary, I look forward to produce my first ever educational video in coming weeks.

This course let us know what are the essential elements in digital story telling. Meanwhile, the good design of story telling videos could be very useful tools for students learning. Both teachers and students could prepare the digital videos based on different purposes and goals. Teachers may prepare the videos because of they want to help students to have clearer understanding to the new concept. Students can also show their understandings to certain topics by making their group or individual videos.
When I make an educational video, I need to think some key questions: What is the purpose to produce this video? What is the main idea in this video? Who is the audience? How can I draw the attention of the audiences?
When you have the clear answer of the questions. You start to think about your storyboard. What media do you want to use to promote your idea or the key message? Is this media able to persuade others to trust your message. For younger audiences, we need to draw their attention. Usually their attention to the topic is easier to be distracted by the outside world. Actually, from plan the storyboard, implement to work on the video, do the review of the video. This is not a short and easy process. If we don't give up and try to listen the comments from your users, I think finally we can make the fantastic video. In this module, I 'm pleased to try out many software such as story using video, photos, images, music, voice and special effects. And explore how the learning theories underpin the technology for making an educational video and supporting learning and teaching. I found it enjoyable to work with my classmates and very supportive groupmates on all the collaborative work on the weekly group activities. I did make lots of fun to enjoy the process and from the groupmates work. I found the course useful and very enjoyable.
